Easy Law for Landlords

On thing I have wanted to do for ages is a ‘proper’ law course for landlords. Not a boring law course, but one which has :

easy to understand articles explaining things simply and clearly
videos and audios so you can learn by watching and listening
interactive diagrams explaining tricky concepts
regular quizzes, and
online tutorial classes

I have finally decided to go for it and am in the process of developing the course content.

There is an information page about the course here and at the time of writing this there is an ‘early bird’ special offer, although this will not last long.

All change at School for Landlords

If you have been here before you will see a bit of a change!

I have spent part of this weekend getting the site ready for its new services which I shall be launching shortly.

For a start you will probably have noticed our new home page. This ‘blog’ element of the site has now been re-named the news section and will contain mostly posts with updates on new courses and other developments

Up to now School for Landlords has been mainly publishing short free videos (which have also appeared on my Landlord Law Blog). Then a few weeks ago I launched the free e course for landlords which has been VERY popular.

The next stage is to start to introduce a few paid courses. The first of these is to be on increasing rent. This features the video series that I published briefly last year, but in a larger format and with all the links and extra information provided too. Hopefully this will go online next week.

Other courses planned include one on tenancy deposits, one on section 21 and a few talks.

“But what” you might be asking “about the video series?” That has not been forgotten. I am just taking a bit of a break from it for a few weeks while I set up and develop the software which is going to run the paid course side of things.

New free e course for landlords

Today I have released my weekly e course for Landlords. It covers 12 topics:

landlords responsibilities
understanding the legal background

choosing and checking tenants
tenancy agreements
tenancy deposits

landlords repairing obligations
health and safety issues
shared houses and HMOs
eviction of tenants
summary and checklist

If you read them all, you should know considerably more about your rights and obligations as a landlord and be less likely to make expensive mistakes.

How it works is that you get an email every week linking to a page on this site. This will have a fairly long article on the weeks topic, plus links to other relevant content in the side bar.
